Green deposits

Most companies hold more operating cash than they need day to day. Green deposits let a treasurer place that excess into certified green bonds and sustainable lending pools — earning a yield and funding real environmental projects — instead of leaving it idle.

The shelf

The catalogue lists instruments you can allocate into. Each one names its certification standard (such as the ICMA Green Bond Principles), what the money is used for, its yield, and the impact one million dollars is expected to have in a year — tonnes of CO2e avoided, megawatt-hours of renewable energy, and so on. That impact figure is stored per instrument, so your holdings turn into a real impact total, not a vague claim.

The green sweep

The sweep is the automation that makes this practical. You set an operating buffer — the cash you want to keep liquid — and choose a target instrument and a frequency. On schedule, anything above the buffer is swept into the instrument. The buffer stays put; only the genuine excess moves.

A worked example: with a three-million buffer and eight million in the account, the monthly sweep places five million into the chosen green deposit and leaves three behind.

Good to know

Check the liquidity column before you allocate — a locked pool earns more but you cannot pull it back on demand.

The certification and use-of-proceeds are shown for every instrument on purpose: a green label with neither is a red flag.
